How does someone become a Date Night Expert?

In my 17 years of marriage the one area that I executed flawlessly was planning our date nights. For a time. However, it gets boring, not to mention exhausting, being the person who looks up the activities, makes the calls, books the stuff, and creates the itinerary. It leaves no room to be surprised, to feel thought of, and in some ways, emotionally cared for.

So, I stopped planning.

As a sexual wellness consultant I heard similar stories from the women who became my clients. They were trying to spice up their marriages with sex and intimacy products, but that only skimmed the surface of what they really needed. Emotional connection.

As I moved forward in my career and developed my skills as a personal coach, and educator, I came across an even wider range of individuals I empathized with. Many shared their struggles to continue feeling connected, or “in love” with their partners; feeling like they had lost “the spark”. Both men and women wanted to know, and feel, they were important to their partners. They wanted to be seen as more than personal secretaries, chauffeurs, cooks, maids, therapists, and all things to the household and their partner. I started with planning team meetings and outings, then moved onto birthdays and a graduation open house. From there, I began planning surprise dates, spontaneous trips, city wide scavenger hunts, and even my own proposal!

In sharing the stories of all I had planned during my previous marriage, and with my new partner, my friends would “joke” that they were ‘jealous’ or wished their partners ‘would put in that much effort,’ even though they would admit their partners weren’t good at planning special moments or dates. So, I began to help. That is when I knew that I had something!

Not all couples are struggling with dating each other. Not all partners are horrible at planning romantic, fun, and connection filled dates. Not all couples need my services.

I am here for the couples that do. For the partner who wants to impress their significant other, and feels lost at how to do it. I am here for couples that know they need to break from the rut of their routine date night, but are uncertain where to start. I am here for the couples who are too exhausted and have no energy to plan something remarkable that will allow them to connect.
